About the Job
Are you a statistician who wants to work with socially important issues? Then you have a great opportunity to contribute your expertise and develop with us!
SCB's mission is to provide society with reliable and useful statistics, both today and in the future. This work requires skilled methodological statisticians. To ensure that the statistics we produce remain current and relevant, we must continuously develop our statistical production - our methods and working practices. With us, you will use your methodological expertise in everything from survey design to statistical production. In the role of methodological statistician, you will initiate and drive improvement issues based on your methodological competence and participate in development projects.
With us, you will have a varied job that involves collaboration with several parts of the organization. You will also be able to participate in national and international work. The role may also mean that you contribute to the work of our scientific council.
At SCB, there are about 60 methodological statisticians placed in four methodological sections. Your placement in the organization will be determined during the recruitment process based on our needs and your competencies. Regardless of where you are placed, the job involves close collaboration with statisticians and colleagues with other competencies both in your own section and in other parts of the organization. Therefore, we are looking for someone who enjoys working in teams, both permanent and temporary.
Do you want to ...
- provide qualified statistical methodological support within statistical production, for example in survey design, data collection, combining different data sources, handling non-response, statistical analysis, Machine Learning, and quality issues.
- translate statistical needs into the use of effective methods and initiate and drive development work in collaboration with other competencies.
- standardize, quality assure, and streamline processes with a focus on the use of new data sources and digitization.
- contribute to the development and improvement of statistical production in accordance with set goals.
- work with national and international issues within the methodological field.
- contribute your expert competence in the implementation of various government assignments.
- work with international issues within the methodological field.

About You
We want you to have:
- a master's or equivalent degree in statistics or mathematical statistics.
- good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and English.
- good knowledge of programming.
It is meritorious if you also have:
- experience working with statistical production.
- good knowledge of survey sampling.
- good knowledge of programming in SAS or R.
- experience working in a consultative role.
- experience driving development work.
- experience working in the public sector.
- relevant experience in the application of Machine Learning.
- PhD in statistics (or another subject that SCB deems relevant).
- experience working in a scientific context and writing reports and scientific texts in Swedish and English.

More Information
This position is located in one of our methodological sections in Solna or Örebro.
The employment is permanent and usually begins with a six-month probationary period. The start date will be agreed upon.
Depending on the operational conditions, there is also the possibility to work some time from home.
This position is security classified, so we will conduct a security review with a background check before making a hiring decision.
